In July 2026, Insurtech UK CEO Melissa Collett attended the then Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves’s speech at the Annual Financial and Professional Services Dinner at the Mansion House.
The Chancellor announced a new AI adoption plan for the UK’s financial services sector and a consultation on a new, tailored captive insurance framework in the UK: a development we have advocated for given its potential to help scaling insurtechs support their innovations, reduce costs, and gain a competitive edge.
Insurtech UK’s inaugural Parliamentary Reception in May 2026 was a huge success.
Hosted by Lord Hunt with a keynote address from the Financial Conduct Authority and strong representation from policy stakeholders including HM Treasury, the Department for Business and Trade, the Office for Investment and regulators, the event allowed first-hand networking for our insurtech members and partners.
It was brilliant to see so many of our members and key stakeholders come together in such a special setting for this fantastic event.
It was standing room only as we hosted Economic Secretary to the Treasury and "City Minister" Lucy Rigby at our annual Insurtech Week pitching event, Investment Day, at the London offices of our associate members Aon.
She spoke enthusiastically about the strength of UK insurtech, its contribution to the economy, and the importance of ongoing insurance innovation.
We kicked off 2026 with a roundtable with the Financial Conduct Authority kindly hosted by our partners Grant Thornton. Lisa Sturley, Head of Insurance Supervision, joined an engaging discussion with members covering a wide range of topics including authorisations, supervision, artificial intelligence and consumer protection policy.

We shared our asks for policy change to improve the UK’s entrepreneurial environment with City Minister Lucy Rigby MP, FCA Deputy CEO Sarah Pritchard, and Samantha Niblett MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Fintech.
In spring 2025 an Insurtech UK delegation of insurtech CEOs visited HM Treasury to discuss how insurtech is driving innovation and growth in financial services.
We discussed topics critical to Insurtech UK’s member firms including access to finance, regulation and authorisations, and how to support insurtech firms to scale overseas.
We also shared more details from our Roadmap for UK Insurtech Growth setting out the key policies needed to sustain and strengthen the UK's position as a global insurtech leader.
Insurtech UK’s Government Affairs group welcomed representatives from the Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to discuss all things related to authorisations, supervision and regulation.
The regulators updated Insurtech UK members on the aims and features of the new mobilisation regime introduced at the start of 2025, with discussion of how this aims to make it easier to become authorised as a new insurance company in the UK.
We also heard about the latest developments in Solvency II/UK, including increasing the thresholds at which the regime applies in order to give smaller insurance firms more headroom to grow.
