The inaugural meeting of the new Insurtech UK Product & Tech working group was a huge success, packed with honest insights from insurance leaders into how they are making sense of agentic AI in the real world.

The purpose of the group - which is supported by Insurtech UK partners Nash Tech - is to explore where agentic AI can create value in insurance, expose what's getting in the way, and identify what can realistically be delivered over the next 12-24 months.

The inaugural meeting of the working group brought together more than 30 senior leaders from across the insurance industry for an honest conversation about what is actually happening when they are trying to implement agentic AI technologies in their companies.

Among the topics discussed were:

  • How to turn agentic AI curiosity into real, operational capability
  • High potential use cases
  • Why most of the challenges and blockers stem from organisations not being ready, rather than any issues with the technology itself
  • The challenge of balancing leadership pressure to do more against overloaded internal teams, a talent gap that needs to be filled with prompt engineers and hybrid thinkers, a lack of clear governance, and scattered, siloed organisational knowledge that is hard for AI to learn from
  • What's actually working, including starting with clear, real-world business problems, integrating agentic AI projects into wider transformation efforts, and setting realistic expectations about autonomy.
